Accessibility Policy Updated: August 2026

Our Commitment to Accessibility

Mastodon Township is committed to providing equal access to information, programs, services, and activities for all members of our community, including individuals with disabilities.

We are committed to making our website, mastodontownship.org, accessible and usable by as many people as possible. We recognize that website accessibility is an ongoing process, and we will continue to review and improve the website as technology, accessibility standards, and our content change.

Mastodon Township strives to provide a website that can be used effectively by people who use assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification software, and other accessibility tools.

Accessibility Standard

Mastodon Township is working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

WCAG 2.1 Level AA provides internationally recognized recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including individuals with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Our accessibility efforts may include:

  • Providing appropriate alternative text for images.
  • Using headings and page structures that support screen readers.
  • Providing keyboard-accessible navigation and controls.
  • Maintaining appropriate color contrast.
  • Using descriptive link and button labels.
  • Providing accessible forms and input fields.
  • Supporting text resizing and responsive display.
  • Providing captions or other accommodations for applicable multimedia content.
  • Working to improve the accessibility of documents and PDFs provided through the website.

Ongoing Accessibility Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. Although Mastodon Township strives to make all website content accessible, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

The Township will continue to identify and correct accessibility barriers as they are discovered. When a problem is reported, we will make reasonable efforts to investigate the issue and provide an accessible alternative when appropriate.
